Save Money and Help Save The Planet With Home Solar

What To Expect With SunPower‘s Free Solar Estimate

SunPower is one of the leading solar power system installers and operators in the country and with deals like their current Go Solar & Get $1000 Back offer, its easy to see why. If you can save money on your electric bill, help save the planet, and still get $1000 back, it sounds almost too good to be true. So we decided to investigate, review the experience, and give an overview of what they offer.

The short version: Its really true! With SunPower, you will save on your electricity bill, and you will be doing your small part to help curb greehouse emissions by producing clean solar energy instead of relying on fossil fuels. If you act now, you’ll even get that $1000 back. And there are no costs to you. You are, in short, leasing space on your roof to SunPower. They’ll take care of the rest.

We decided to take advantage of their Free Solar Estimate, and the process was simple, clear, and very consumer friendly. After filling out a short form, which included contact information and address, along with confirmation that I am, in fact, the homeowner (SunPower cannot install their solar power system on your roof if you rent) a SunPower represented called to provide the estimate.

The call was fairly short, and, in my case, a little disappointing. The representative brought up my home on Google Maps, and provided some topline information, indicating where the system would be located (a significant portion of my roof faces due South, so this wasn’t a surprise) and how they would install. Then, the bad news. A large tree overhangs my home. They let me know that before Sunpower could install, or even provide an accurate estimate, that tree would have to be removed. Unfortunate, but ultimately, not their fault. Furthermore, after speaking with other professionals, it turns out removing that tree is probably a good idea anyway, to minimize risk to the roof, and provide a bit more sun in the yard.

So thanks to SunPower, the tree will be removed shortly, and we’ll give it a go. In the meantime, we’ve asked other SunPower customers in our local area what thier experience was like. We’ll update this post as soon as we hear back!
